Jon Clayton
A new website and lead magnet creation helped Jon Clayton to reinvigorate his architectural business.

The Goal
Jon Clayton is a Chartered Architectural Technologist that helps home-owners unlock the potential in their homes.
He came to us with an existing WordPress website that wasn’t converting.
He wanted a new website that would showcase his services and encourage people to sign up to his mailing list.
He wanted the option of adding a course later.
Challenges
Jon uses a personal brand so we had to make it obvious to users that he sold architectural services as soon as they arrived on his website.
Jon’s logo is hexagonal and we wanted to replicate this throughout the site but hexagons are tricky on websites to get right.
He had a large number of blog posts on his old site and didn’t want to lose any search engine rankings from them.
Solution
We loved Jon’s branding and knew that we could make a website that created a real impact. He had some amazing photos for us to use.
But firstly, we conducted in-depth research on Jon’s business including his ideal customer and his competitors. This helped us to determine the pages that his new website should have.
Next, we worked on the UI and UX of each page – we produced visual mockups of every page and presented these to Jon.
Visual identitiy
We developed Jon’s visual identity to include some beautiful icons and graphics relating to architecture and house-building as well as some custom icons that reinforced Jon’s friendly and open style:

We produced a lead magnet for Jon – a brochure that matched his branding and used the new iconography we’d developed for him.

Development
Next, we worked on the development of the website. We built the website using WordPress as it’s a great platform for blogging and it will be easy to add a course to it at a later date.
We built each page based on the signed-off mockups and implemented the lead magnet.
Jon had a lot of previous blog posts and we imported the majority of these although we changed the styling of them to reflect his new website.
We ensured that the website looked good on mobile devices.
We tested the website on a wide variety of devices and browsers to ensure that it not only looked good but functioned correctly.
Prior to launching, we implemented speed optimisation, which was vital to this website as it is image-rich.
Finally, we set up the website for search engine optimisation.
