Applies to the Essential Care Plan
What fair usage means
The Essential plan is designed for businesses that need their website reliably maintained and have occasional small updates or fixes to make. It is not designed for ongoing development work or frequent change requests.
Fair usage means your requests are consistent with the general upkeep of a stable, live website.
What’s included
Minor fixes and content updates are included within your plan. These are tasks that are clearly small in scope and take no longer than 30 minutes each to complete.
Examples of included tasks:
- Updating text on an existing page
- Swapping an image you supply
- Updating contact details, opening hours, or pricing
- Fixing a broken link
- Minor styling adjustments (e.g. a button colour, font size, background colour of a section)
- Adding a testimonial or team member to an existing page format
What isn’t included
The following sit outside fair usage and will be scoped and quoted before any work begins:
- New pages or new page sections requiring design decisions
- New functionality, features, or integrations
- Changes to site structure or navigation
- Copywriting or content creation from scratch
- SEO work or strategic input
- Anything requiring more than 30 minutes to complete
There will never be a surprise charge. If a request falls outside fair usage, we will always let you know and give you options before we proceed.
Volume
Fair usage assumes a normal volume of requests consistent with maintaining a stable website. As a guide, most Essential clients submit between two and four requests per month. If your volume regularly exceeds this, it is a signal that Growth is the right plan for you – and we will have that conversation openly and without pressure.
How requests work
All requests must be submitted through your client workspace. This keeps everything tracked, nothing gets lost, and you always know the status of each request. Requests submitted by email outside the workspace may experience delays.
Overages
If a request falls outside fair usage, you have two options: we can quote it as a one-off development task, or we can talk about whether a Growth plan would better suit your needs. We will never just do the work and bill you – you will always approve a cost before we start.
